This One is For the Girls

"Best friends are the people you can do anything and nothing with and still have the best time."

We all have one. Our best friend, our partner in crime, our unbiological sister. Life is hard if you don't have someone by your side to laugh about it with. You know that you can come to your best friend whenever you need anything. You can complain to her about guys and she'll know exactly what to say. And you can confide in her things you could otherwise never have the courage to say out loud.
That's the beauty of a friendship that not even petty fights can break. Friends will come and go, but best friends will always find their way back to you.

I have several best friends that I know I can trust with my life. In the past, I've lost a lot of really good friends. Shit happens, and it sucks, but sometimes you have to move on. What I love about my best friends is that even when we do fight, it's over in an instance and we already want to apologize to each other. There's that understanding that everyone has their bad moments, but a friendship shouldn't be lost over a bitchy text message or a rude comment. But when little things like that do affect your bond with someone, know that maybe things would be better if you two weren't friends. I've come to realize that true friends forgive your mistakes, and fake ones only use them against you.

Best friends are literally the best. You can watch Titanic and cry your hearts out one night, but then the next you can hide under the covers together watching The Conjuring. Your best friend doesn't judge you for anything because you know they are thinking the exact same thing.  Want to get drunk and dance on top of a bar? Your best friend will videotape it and rub it in your face the next morning. And even though she'll tell you that you're an ass, she was still there right alongside you, throwing in a few moves here and there.  Bad week and want to stuff your face? Text your best friend and know she'll be right over with a pint of Ben and Jerry’s and a bag of Doritos. Have the most spectacular time with your crush? Meet your girl for coffee and fill her in on all the juicy details while she helps you analyze the meaning of his every word -- even if it's just how he said "hello." It's that dependability that we love so much.  In life, especially as you start your career, everything can be a little hectic. We're constantly taking on new projects and meeting new people and trying new things, but through all of that we still have our best friend. We still have that rock that we can lean on.

But don't take her for granted. Don't just expect her to bend over backwards for you when you won't do the same.  Friendship is a two-way street, and if you don't pull your weight you'll fall behind. Even if you get in a fight, text her and tell her you love her and you're sorry, even if you didn't do anything wrong.  What's worth losing your best friend over? Nothing. Not guys, not catty arguments, not money -- nothing is worth it when you realize what you're actually losing.

So what's the lesson to be learned? Cherish your best friend; love her.  She's the girl that you can count on when your life falls apart, and she'll even help you pick up the pieces.

What do you all love the most about your best friends? What are some crazy stories you have? I want to hear all about it! The greatest part of going out and having a good time is the recap breakfast the next morning.  So how about I brew up a pot of French Roast and we reminisce a little?
