Monthly Favorites

Ahh New York in the summer. There's nothing better than walking to the subway in 90% humidity and the smell of curb trash everywhere. Why wear sandals when you're bound to step in steamy dog pee, and any makeup is just going to melt off your face like a Dali painting in 5 minutes? And then if you do get a seat on the subway someone has to sit so close to you that both your sweaty arms have to rub together for the whole ride and the nausea starts to set in and...sorry I blacked out for a second. All jokes aside, nothing beats hanging out on a rooftop bar with an Aperol Spritz in hand and the New York City skyline at your fingertips. This month I've spent way too much money (no surprise) but I'm also finally getting comfortable in my new crib and am having an amazing time decorating it. Keep reading for all of my July favorites!

Beauty

Collagen Conditioning Hair Treatment - This stuff has completely changed my hair game. I found out about this through a Buzzfeed article and I'm OBSESSED! I use this instead of conditioner once and a week and I'm not kidding when I tell you it makes me hair Disney princess soft. I can't read Korean so I don't know the exact instructions, but I just leave it in for 5 minutes and rinse for soft hair that smells SO GOOD!

Supergoop! 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen SPF 40 - My family has a history of skin cancer so wearing sunscreen daily has always been a top priority for me. I recently discovered this brand and have been reading up on the other benefits of mineral sunscreen (including protection against the dirty NYC pollution!) and I'm in love. It's the perfect product to put on under my foundation or even in lieu of it. I know that the brand has a few deals at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale so you should check them out if you haven't already!

Home

RoomMates Leopard Peel and Stick Wallpaper - Yo. This stuff is AMAZING! My bedroom has been completely transformed by this wallpaper. And for a renter like me, all I have to do when I move out is simply peel it off, no fuss about it. They have so many options so if you're looking to spice up your living space, check it out! Just be sure to measure how much you'll need...my only advice.

TV

Stranger Things Season 3 - Dare I say this was the best season yet? I laughed, I cried, and now I can't stop singing the theme song to the Never Ending Story. If you haven't watched this show yet (are you living under a rock?) then I suggest you get started ASAP and watch all three seasons. I didn't like season 2 very much but this latest one totally makes up for that.

Queer Eye Season 4 - Is there anything better than the Fab 5? No! All I want in life is to have coffee with Karamo and cry to him about my life and have him give me the most amazing pep talk in response.

Music

One Direction - Yes, I know they've been broken up on hiatus since 2016 but July 23rd marked 9 years of One Direction! It's amazing to me that 9 years of my life have been wasted lusting after 5, er 4 (ZAYN!), effeminate UK pop stars. But I don't care because they have some awesome tunes that I can listen to over and over again and never get sick of. I mean, have you listened to Where Do Broken Hearts Go? Girl, BYE!

Goodbyes by Post Malone - My best friend Christine introduced me to this song when I was at a low point (me? Heartbroken by a boy? Well I never) and honestly it's my new anthem. I've listened to some of Post Malone's songs but now I'm madly in love him?? I guess I'm into men with face tats now? I'm all about it and want to go to Olive Garden with him.

Books

The Swans of Fifth Avenue by Melanie Benjamin - I am officially obsessed with New York's 1950s socialites. I've always had a fascination with Truman Capote since seeing Breakfast at Tiffany's, but I never realized what a little rascal he was back in the day. This book is a perfect summer read and will make you wish you were lunching at La Cote Basque...minus all the scandal.

Health/Wellness

Yoga - I've done yoga since high school, but lately I've been on such a kick. My favorite class I take up the street has a restorative gentle flow yoga with meditation class and I'm not kidding when I tell you it's my favorite thing on Earth. Being in the city, it's sometimes hard to find time for yourself when you're crammed on the subway, on the sidewalk, and even in your own apartment, so having the time to just get away and relax has been amazing for both my physical and mental health.
