Slimming in the City: Getting Back on Track

To say I gained 10 lbs during quarantine is an understatement... I probably gained more like 20. At the office I could only snack if I brought something from home, and now that I'm at home I have an unlimited amount of snacks! Reality struck when I went to put on pants that weren't made of spandex and they were a tad (very) snug. With states reopening and the impending dread of having to eventually leave my house again, I decided it's time for a change. This week restarts my fitness journey and I'm excited to get back on track!

Eating

As I've said before, losing weight is 80% diet and 20% fitness. My diet lately has been easy frozen meals, which saves me time but not inches on my waist. Here's my new meal plan guidelines to ensure I'm eating in a calorie deficit and getting the right nutrients to keep my body functioning (all of this will of course be tracked in My Fitness Pal):

Breakfast:
Veggie omelet with feta cheese and either chicken sausage or smoked salmon
or
Breakfast sandwich on an English muffin with sliced chicken, thin sliced cheddar cheese, and egg
or
Special K cereal

Lunch:
Salad with chicken and veggies
or
Flatbread pizza
or
Two breakfast tacos with egg, cheese, chicken sausage, and salsa on low-carb tortillas

Dinner:
I want to try new recipes, so dinner could be coq au vin, cauliflower rice burrito bowls, stuffed peppers...the less carbs at night the better. Follow my Pinterest Board for what I could be cooking!

Snacks:
Yoplait Oui yogurt (my favorite flavors are peach and honey)
or
Fresh Fruit (on hand right now I have pineapple, grapes, and strawberries)
or
Mixed Nuts

Fitness

With gyms closed, I have to find effective at-home workouts. I'm not a fan of running outside, so my main goal is finding a workout that will help burn fat. I've followed Whitney Simmons videos on YouTube for years now, and when I saw she had an app I was like whaaaaat?? So I downloaded her Alive app and am starting the 4-week program. The workouts are a mix of HIIT and strength circuits anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes in length. There is little to no equipment required which is PERFECT for at home! I'm doing a week trial for free, and then it costs $15 a month. That's less than a gym membership, and since I'm not spending my money on other things right now (I miss you so fucking much TJ Maxx) I think this is a good investment. I can't wait to show you all my progress pictures!
