Happy Hour: Watermelon Sugar

Happy Hour: Watermelon Sugar Cocktail

We all know I'm ride or die for Harry Styles, and his latest single "Watermelon Sugar" is obviously on repeat all day while I crank out proposals at work. Seeing as how it's now summer, and watermelon is finally in season, I figure it's the perfect time to break out my cocktail shaker and get mixing. I present to you: Watermelon Sugar, a vodka cocktail that is as refreshing as seeing Harry in a low-cut button down.

The key to this cocktail is Trader Joe's Watermelon Cucumber Cooler, which is basically just watermelon and cucumber juice. This is FIRE and perfect on it's own, but of course adding a little booze to it just makes it better. Look for it at your local Trader Joe's or you can order it on Amazon (for like 5x the price, ew). I used watermelon vodka because I just love everything watermelon-flavored, but I liked how the vodka had a sour kick since the juice is on the sweeter side. And what's a Glitz & Fritz cocktail without St. Germaine?! The floral liquor really heightens the cucumber and is just so...ahhh.

For the "sugar" aspect of this cocktail, you just have to line the rim of your glass! I found some Christmas crystal sugar in my cabinet that looked more pink and green than red and green...so I thought HELL YES (just pink or green crystal sugar works, too)! Add a lime wedge and cucumber slice and you are basically Martha Stewart.

Watermelon Sugar

1 oz Watermelon Vodka (I used Smirnoff)
1 oz St. Germaine liqueur
4 oz Watermelon Cucumber Cooler juice
Ice

For garnish:
1 lime wedge
Small bowl of crystal sugar
1 cucumber slice

Rub one lime around rim of glass, making sure to coat in juice. Then dip glass into sugar and swirl to cover in sugar. Set aside.

In a cocktail shaker, fill with ice, then add vodka, liqueur, and juice. Shake well.

Fill rimmed glass with ice, then strain cocktail over top. Garnish with lime and cucumber. Enjoy!
